Their friendship was tested in 2017 when then President Trump supported a blockade of Qatar led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Before the Oct. 7 attack, the Saudis were in serious talks, led by the United States, to recognize Israel. 8 of 12 Israel has a major incentive to strengthen relations with Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia, for its part, would benefit from direct access to the Israeli military and technology sector. In March 2023, China brokered a breakthrough, re-establishing ties between two of the region’s heavyweights, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

It’s true that in recent days, Israel has signaled a certain shift in its war strategy, using fewer troops and focusing more on central and southern Gaza. These steps appear partly driven by the need to keep down Israeli losses in the close quarters of urban combat, to offer some relief to Israel’s suffering economy — and possibly in preparation for an escalation on Israel’s northern border. Such shifts don’t seem intended to dial back the snowballing regional tensions, nor will they prevent the increasing humanitarian suffering. The first and most critical shift required is for the administration to embrace the need for a full cease-fire now. The Biden administration does not need to support the South African claims, but it can and should commit to being guided by any findings of the court.

Abu Dhabi, UAE CNN —The Israeli military is tightening its grip on northern Gaza, as its war on the Hamas militant group is showing no signs of abating. Almost six weeks into the conflict, however, Israel is yet to offer a clear post-war plan for the territory. The Israeli military raided Gaza’s largest hospital, Al-Shifa, on Wednesday after claiming that Hamas had built a command center beneath the sprawling medical complex. The United States has warned against Israel re-occupying Gaza, and has stressed a future role there for the Palestinian Authority (PA). Video Ad Feedback Netanyahu appeared to rule out giving the Palestinian Authority control of post-war Gaza.

Opinion | The Road Back From Hell

The nations opposing a cease-fire — Israel, the United States, some European countries and a few others — might acknowledge the perils looming. The United States would need to push for such an outcome, working alongside Qatar and regional states that have Israel’s ear. Revived Palestinian national political structures will be a critical component in advancing broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict resolution after this war. The road back from the hell of a zero-sum “us or them” begins with the humanizing of the other. Maybe it’s a road that eventually leads us back to a two-state dispensation.

It's a long way from the Wembley mudfest in 2007 when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins 13-10 in the first London game. The league said the NFL Academy's TikTok channel has the highest engagement of its channels on the the popular video-sharing app. The NFL won't overtake the Premier League for popularity in Britain but it says it has 14 million fans with 3 million deemed “avid” fans. Results of a survey by media consulting firm Altman Solon indicate good consumer trends for the NFL in Britain. The Jags' game on Oct. 8 against the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham will be run by the league.

Tottenham first hosted NFL fixtures in October 2019, a year later than planned due to delays with the stadium's construction. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the only stadium purpose-built for NFL games outside of the United States, has already hosted 12 of the league's 32 teams and will be given official status as the "Home of the NFL in the UK." "Growing the game globally is a major strategic priority for the league," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a joint news release. "Our commitment to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will allow us to continue to bring extraordinary NFL experiences to fans in London, while creating a positive social and economic impact on the local community." "Our partnership with the NFL has been integral to our wider vision for the stadium and delivering a sports and entertainment destination in London," said Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy.

NEW YORK, July 26 (Reuters) - British billionaire Joe Lewis has surrendered to U.S. authorities in Manhattan and is expected to appear in court later on Wednesday to face insider trading charges, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney's office in Manhattan said. Two of Lewis' pilots, Patrick O'Connor and Bryan Waugh, were also charged with insider trading securities fraud. Joe Lewis is a wealthy man," Damian Williams, the U.S. Attorney in Manhattan, said in a statement. Insider trading has long been a focus of Williams' office, dating to 2009 when a crackdown began under one of his predecessors, Preet Bharara. Separately on Wednesday, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filed a civil insider trading case against Lewis, O'Connor, Waugh and Lewis' then-girlfriend Carolyn Carter.

Harry Kane and the End of the Line

One day last month, Levy, the chairman of Tottenham Hotspur, told the students of the Cambridge University Union that he hoped a statue of Harry Kane would stand outside the club’s stadium one day, possibly its greatest-ever striker immortalized in bronze. If he is to leave Spurs, then it is hard to escape the impression that it is now or never. Kane is the sort of forward who would slot easily into any team. He can play as a focal point, he can act as a poacher, but by inclination he is a playmaker, too. He is, in essence, a false False Nine.

Tottenham players offered to reimburse their fans after the Newcastle defeat. “Unfortunately, the mismanagement of Tottenham off the pitch has now transcended to on the pitch to a point where Tottenham are in the biggest mess I’ve known in my lifetime.”Bleak future?

April 20 (Reuters) - Tottenham Hotspur are not in negotiations with any bidders over a potential takeover of the Premier League club, chairman Daniel Levy has said. Iranian-American billionaire Jahm Najafi, chair of MSP Sports Capital, was reported to be preparing a $3.75 billion takeover bid for Spurs in February. Tottenham exited the FA Cup and Champions League last month, meaning their 15-year trophy drought continues and Levy has found himself targeted by a section of fans at home games. We have 30,000 shareholders and most of them are fans who own the shares," Levy told the Cambridge Union in a wide-ranging interview released on YouTube on Wednesday. Levy, 61, added that he hoped supporters would see him as someone who always acted in Tottenham's best interests.
[1/2] Protesters hold placards depicting French President Emmanuel Macron during a demonstration as part of the 12th day of nationwide strikes and protests against French government's pension reform, in Paris, France, April 13, 2023. It would also need to find its way through parliament, where Macron has lost his working majority and debate has become increasingly fractious. The conservative Les Republicains' (LR) party, which the government had hoped it would be able to count on for support, has emerged deeply divided from the pension reform saga. "There are gaping wounds in the country," LR lawmaker Aurélien Pradié, who rebelled against the pro-pension reform party line on the reform, said on Twitter. So while the pension reform is on the statute books, Macron has much political capital still to regain.

Conte leaves with Tottenham in fourth place in the Premier League and still well-placed to challenge for a top-four finish and qualify for the Champions League.
